The number one complaint registered by SFI affiliates is that their sponsor or upline does not support them. It may be that the sponsor does not take the time to make an introduction, never answers emails, is aloof or out of touch.

The simple fact is that an affiliate sponsors a downline hoping that the downline is going to make money for him or her, and simple logic dictates that as an affiliate you stand a much better chance of earning commissions if you support your downline, share your experiences, share your successes and failures, and help them navigate the mine field which is online marketing to help them fast track success.

Put yourself in your downline’s shoes. Would you want to be helping your upline earn commission if your sponsor did nothing to support you? Would you even bother to try and build your business or would you follow the majority and jump horses weekly trying to find the latest, greatest, fast cash opportunity!

Now think about your sponsor. Were you supported? Were you guided? Did you receive the help you needed to succeed or did you have to struggle through the mine field? How did you feel about the relationship and how do you want your downline to feel about you as their sponsor?

Network marketing is a great opportunity but it relies on sponsors passing on their knowlege and experience down the line. If your downline feels thet are not being supported they will go where the grass is greener. Surely you don’t want your affiliates feeling this way!

Of course you cannot force all your downline to duplicate your success and become successful themselves. They have to want to succeed but you must communicate with the downline in order to identify those who have it and those who do not. But if you are sponsoring affiliates for the thrill of building big numbers and just leave them to fend for themselves, then you will not succeed. You are wasting your own time, money and efforts.

Start by opening up good lines of communication with all your affiliates. This is how you can teach your affiliates how to succeed and how you build relationships with your affiliates.

Greet your new sign ups and invite them to contact you. When they do contact you respond, be open and helpful.

If they have signed up for your autoresponder then make sure they are receiving useful supportive information regularly, but not too frequently. SFI has an internal mailer as do many programs and these are a great way to stay in touch without falling foul of spam filters.

A very good tip from Gery Carson: Most people crave recognition. Recognize your affiliates who are doing good things with praise and rewards. Recognize them in your weekly newsletters, recognize them in your Affiliate Program Forum, and let them know when you do so.

The title of Gery Carson’s 5th Rule of Success is “Treat TripleClicks as YOUR store”. Every SFI Affiliate earns commissions on sales from his or her TripleClicks store and at the same time receive points from own purchases which help build status within the organization which further increases the commission %.

In a broader sense however there are two very good reasons why an affiliate should use the products or services offered by his business.

Firstly the affiliate is selling a product or service and at some point is going to have to communicate the benefits of that product on a personal level. Standard splash pages, banners, and ads prepared for the affiliate are great but its the personal touch that sells at the end of the day. Whether its a phone conversation, email correspondence, or a review on a blog, knowing the product you are selling definitely helps sell the product. Use it, get to know, it, then promote it.

Secondly, and very simply, the affiliate is investing time, money and reputation in advertising or promoting a product or opportunity. By actually using the product being sold and by purchasing that product from the affiliates own store the affiliate is investing in the opportunity helping to build the momentum and longevity of the program.

Develop the mind set that your affiliate business is YOUR business, care about the business as if it was your own, help build the business, sponsor new affiliates and both use and promote the products.

After all, it would make no sense at all to own a corner store, but spend your money in someone else’s corner store!

Not too long ago I received an email from a former member of my SFI downline in which he explained that the reason he left SFI was that he wasnt building a large enough downline himself and suggested I join a program he had just signed up for which had already assigned thousands of members to his downline.

The fact is that quantity is no guarantee of success. Too many people focus on the quantity of members in their downline as a sign of their success. They sponsor hundreds of affiliates, even thousands, but too often these become simply lists of names.

The real key is to work with those affiliates who are really working to build their downlines. Once you have developed a small group of affiliates, and work with them to build their downlines, your business will grow dramatically.

Support your core team closely, and train them to do the things you do so that you are creating duplication and maximum leverage. Don’t waste too much time trying to persuade the non-workers to work, of course give them the benefit of your time and try and turn them around but if they just don’t get it then focus on the real workers and build strength in depth.

Keep sponsoring affiliates, work with your workers, and success will happen.

The money is in your list, or as I learnt recently from one of Mike Dillard’s excellent training sessions, the money is the quality of your list!

Whether an affiliate program downline or an opt in listing from your own website how you encourage or educate your list has a massive impact on how much your business grows.

A list of names and numbers is a dead list unless there is contact between the list builder and list. If the members of the list or downline are not active then there is absolutely no need for them to be there but the biggest flaw is when a downline includes members who really want to succeed but simply do not know how. They are not receiving the training or guidance they need, their upline has deserted them.

Lead by example. Share best methods to promote the opportunity that the team leader and team members share, the more successful the team becomes the more successful the team leader becomes.

Unfortunately however leading by example works in the negative also. If you want a downline of affiliates who do nothing? Then do nothing and that’s exactly what you’ll get!

Successful people are not dreamers. They have vision, they may even have had a specific vision, dream or day-dream that gave them the “call to action” but they are not dreamers. Nobody ever succeeded by simply dreaming, or thinking about what they want to do. Insiration (visions, dreams, ideas) lead to thought (planning) but must be completed with action. You will not create a successful business by thinking about it. You will create a successful business ONLY by DOING…by TAKING ACTION every day.

It is easy to postpone, the easiest thing in the world to find reasons not to do something, but what is tough is making sure that everything gets done. Like most of you reading this I have a very busy day myself but I try to stay organized by using a very simple excel spreadsheet plotting daily activities against the day of the month. This gives me a very clear color coded image of what I have done, helps me make sure I have taken the necessary steps each day, and warns me if I’m neglecting anything.

Every day, no matter what, make sure you’re doing SOMETHING to further your business. If you’re not, you’re not even in the game, you’re kidding yourself. No business becomes successful without daily focus and action.

The following are tasks suggested by SFI to affiliates building their SFI/TripleClicks business, but this is a great list for anyone promoting any business online. If your affiliate program is not giving you these sorts of tools & training then you seriously have to ask why not!

• Follow up with recent prospects.
• Send out some E-Cards.
• Place a classified or other type of ad.
• Send out some postcards.
• Review the LaunchPad Lessons.
• Review the Internet Income course.
• Send out a newsletter to your PSAs.
• Read an SFI training article you haven’t read yet (or review one you have).
• Contact your sponsor, let him or her know what you’re doing.
• Go to Google and search for articles on how to become a better marketer.
• Browse TripleClicks for new products you can recommend to your customers.
• Check the SFI News and SFI Power Tips blogs.
• Review your Genealogy and TC Member Report.
• Review the Hit Tracker page to maximize your marketing efforts.
• Start a co-op and invite your PSAs to join.
• Add some prospects to your ECA database.
• Review your “My Movers” report (on your SFI homepage).
• Review “My Goals” (on your SFI homepage).
• Review the latest posts on the SFI Forum.
• Track & manage your ads.

Adapt these ideas to your home business.

SFI is an 11 year old business and is recognized as one of the most reliable businesses online. I’ve been a member for several years and have sponsored large numbers of affiliates to my downline.

Perhaps because joining SFI is free, and it is relatively easy to maintain membership with either no cost or little cost, many members sign up and then unfortunately sit back expecting it to happen for them. Although there is no requirement to spend a cent with SFI it does take time and effort, as any business would.

If you opened a corner store there is no way you would leave your store unattended. You would put in the time and effort to attract customers, encourage customers, and generate sales. You would make sure your business was supporting you financially.

This is exactly the same when you start an online business. Whether as an SFI affiliate or with any business online.

To succeed online requires training, time and effort, and in all honesty some financial investment also although following the guidelines of those who have done it already will greatly help to minimize cost and reduce risk of failure.

The fact is, anything worthwhile in life requires effort and commitment. Treat your online business as a business, invest your time and effort, be prepared to train, and work smart not hard.

In short, treat your business as a serious, full-time business, put in the effort and commit to its success and it will become one.

Attracting Traffic With Banner Ads

Advertising on the internet is constantly evolving and there are many different forms of advertising available to the online marketer. However this also often leads to confusion over what method to use and as a result marketers can spread their budget too thinly over too many lines of advertising.

It is good to be selective. Choose one form, try it, track it and see if this is a successful form of advertising for you.

Banner advertising is one of the longest established forms of advertising but still has one of the best conversion rates and is very cost effective.

They are found on search engines, personal websites, blogsites and almost every site visited online. For this reason they have become one of the widest methods to entice the internet traffic.

There are many sites which accept banner ads through the traffic exchange system of credits while additional credits can be purchased very cheaply. Other sites require simply that you view a number of other banner ads before posting your own.

Banners are designed to attract the attention of visitors and are one of the best ways to build brand recognition and tend to be colorful and attractive. The text within the ads describes in a limited area the detailed
information to attract the users to click on the ad and take them to the website or lead capture page.

I recommend linking a banner ad to a lead capture page so that the visitor quickly receives enough informaton to prompt them to register for your newsletter or special offer.

Here are some tips to increase the return on your efforts:

1. Choose an attention grabbing content for your banner. With the limited amount of text space you need to have superior content on the ad.

2. Add pictures on the ad to give the users a visual of the product. Seeing is believing in the eyes of the consumer.

3. Avoid using banners larger than 5K. The bigger banner is not going to gain more traffic and seems to clutter the sites they are posted on.

4. Avoid using too many different colors and fonts. You want to appear professional, not like a kid with a new box of crayons testing out every color.

5. Use the “call to action” advertising method of “click here for more exciting information.” Take charge and direct the users to click on your ad.

6. Keep your ad content readable. Make it motivational but not too cluttered with information. You only want to peak their interest to click the ads.

7. Test the links of banner to verify it drives the traffic to your site.

The following are two excellent resources which can help you generate traffic from banner ads.

Instant splash is a free service in which banners and text can be combined quickly in very simple splash pages. These load quickly, get the message accross, and invite the viewer to click through to your site or capture page.

Banners and Bucks is all about Traffic and Cash. B&B is a simple system through which your banner is randomly combined with the banner of two other members so that everyone helps promote the other members banners. There is simply no way that any one member could generate the volume of traffic that this system generates.

10 Creative Ideas To Build Quality Traffic

Everyone needs traffic to their website but more important that traffic is that you are attracting the right sort of traffic. There is no point driving thousands of viewers to your site if none are interested in your product or service. The truth is that it is not always easy to generate the quality targetted traffic needed to make a site a success but there are creative ways to do this which cost very little.

1. Use sites such as Flickr. Social photo sharing drives people to your website. Add good tags to the photos so they attract the members on the site. Write a post in your blog and add the link to the Flickr site. The two sites will work in unison to draw traffic to your site.

2. Join a social bookmarking site. Share your favorite sites with other people sharing the same interests. Include your website. The social sites are like a specific search engine for many people. Add the bookmarks to your blog site to increase your internet traffic. Add interesting links to relevant products that the users are searching for. The more interesting links you have bookmarked the larger your following will become.

3. Start blogging. Join several sites where you comment on the blog posts. Add your URL with posting. Keep in mind you are commenting on your posts so remain focused on the topic since you do not want your posting to be deleted or considered as spam. You want to appear knowledgeable and someone others can trust.

4. Use forum signatures for promotion of your site with a live link. Use topics with great information and link them back to your sites. The more information you provide the readers the more they will rely on you for your new information. They will return repeatedly to read what you are posting.

6 Ways To Get More Visitors Who Are Ready To Buy

You have a beautiful store in a nice, safe part of town and have filled it full of well priced goods you are convinced will sell, but you forgot one very important thing. Nobody walks down your street. There is no traffic. Nobody knows you exist!

You have a beautiful website, hosted by a reputable service, and have filled it with great offers you are convinced will sell …. its no different from a bricks & mortar store …. when you have a website you need to drive traffic to your site otherwise nobody knows you exist!

There are several techniques to use to obtain traffic. Here are some of the techniques used.

1. Search engine and directories are used by internet users to locate their desired information. When you submit your website with the search engines and directories you add the exposure your site needs to allow people to locate your website. The practice of adding your site to the locations providing your URL to their results generates traffic. You will need to make your website specific to the needs of the internet users with relevant keywords, Meta tags, and images to attract the traffic based on their search requirements.

2. Pay-per-click directories draw traffic to your site when you advertise and the users click on your ad. Use services such as Overture.com and Google AdWords bid on the advertising. Within the advertisement, use specific terms to describe your business or website in a few detailed descriptive words.

3. Publish your own ezine with interesting facts and information about your website and business. You can include promotions, discounts, and surveys to entice the traffic to visit your site. Three Blog Basics For A Great Blog

As explained previously a blog is a type of online journal that a person can use to post on a variety of different topics. People use Blog for just about anything including a shared online journal and advertising their business, to name just two, but many people are hesitant to begin a blog because they feel it is complicated, but really it is not. Here are three very basic tips to get you started. Blogging is it’s free! So follow these steps and have some fun with your new Blog!

1. Content

Think about the content you wish to put into your blog. Is it going to be a personal journal, information on a certain topic, or even a way to advertise your business? No matter what the reason content is important. Start your blog with three of four topics at first. This will begin your blog and get you visitors to your site. Most of these visitors will post comments on the topics and when they do, pay attention to them. Look for any questions in these posts; they will probably give you your next topic without even realizing. Be sure though, before you post your topics you carefully research them. You may not be an expert (yet!) but you do want to contribute accurate and informative information .. or at least informed opinions.

2. Availability
You need to make yourself available to your visitors. Keep your profile updated and include email instructions for any questions that your visitor may have. The more available you are to the visitor the happier they will be.

3. Personalize

Once you have your blog created now is the time to add links to affiliates related to your site. One of the most popular sites for bloggers to do this with is clickbank. There are other sites available besides clickbank and are fairly easy to find. All you will have to do is go to your search engine and type in advertising affiliates and you will be amazed at the number of returns. Businesses are eager to have their business promoted and are willing to pay people to do this. This site will provide you with a lot of different advertisers that you can place on your blog. What is even better is you can make money while advertising. One important thing to remember when you are adding your links is not to go overboard. Too much advertising can turn your visitors away.

No matter what the purpose of your blog may be if you follow these three easy steps you will be up and blogging in no time.
